210 lbs

Despite my good intentions November was a terrible month for training. Not only did I not train at all after the first week, but with the trips to the UK and Dubai I drank way more than I would normally, and ate a load of really crap food! Add to that a pretty bad cold all last week and I am somewhat depressed by how quickly things have gone downhill.

The surprising bit is that I actually lost 5lbs, but if most of my previous weight gain was down to putting on muscle, I think most of my weight loss is down to it buggering off again! Hopefully now I am back in Spain and rid of my cold I can actually get a really good month under my belt, before said belt gets stretched again my all the Turkey.

Looks like you and I are weight buddies Chris! A tough 3 weeks at work with lots of late nights (1-2am finishes) marking and preparing lessons means I’ve had little time for exercise and tend to snack late at night. I was at 200lbs – ish at the end of the summer but it has gradually crept up to 210lbs. In serious need of sorting this out. Just started doing a 5 mile circuit 3 nights a week but by the time little on is in bed and we are fed and watered I don’t get out till 9pm, and with school work to do once back from the run it’s proving hard.

Excellent, now I am running a Fat Club Blog 🙂

So what is your target weight then? I want to get to at least 195, ideally 190, so with Xmas coming up I reckon I am looking at the end of March (no trips permitting), but am starting today with a vengence as my cold is just about gone and I reckon I can start doing some light work outs and 5km runs.

Maybe I will do a Todays Progress mini post each day and you can comment as well and see if that helps motivate us?

Well I wouldn’t say fat. Portly perhaps!

In fairness I guess I hide the weight well and people are often surprised when I say how heavy I am and say I need to lose weight. But it’s inside that i worry and feel crap about it – worry from a health point of view, and feel crap when I look at photos from 6 years ago when I was still teaching PE and kayaking 3/4 times a week.

Just posting yesterday has already spurred me on and the running kit is sat ready for tonight – I’ll be braving the cold and rain for the 5 mile circuit. Have dusted off my training app ready to enter the details in and weighed in this am at 210lbs on the nose.

That is exactly how I am. At 6ft 4″ I can carry a lot of weight before it shows, but I know!!

I had every intention of running today, but still haven’t shifted the cold and headache, so gave it a miss. Hopefully tomorrow!!!

I have had a pretty good day diet wise though:

    Breakfast – Porridge
    Snack – Banana, Apple, Walnuts
Lunch – Bread, brie, apple, spinach, beetroot, tomato
Snack – crunch bar and a kiwi, banana and strawberry smoothie
Dinner – chicken paprika, red cabbage, mash potato
Snack – yoghurt with raisins and hazelnuts.

2 cups of tea, 1 cup of coffee and a lot of water.

Well, run done. 5 Miles in 40 minutes so happy with that. Legs and lungs ok, but stomach felt it??!!

Diet is my downfall, not because I eat crap – actually because I don’t eat much and my metabolism is shot. I regularly eat my first food of the day when I get home at about 5:30pm! I really need to get into the swing of eating regularly to try and kick start my metabolism into working.

Wow, you sure we aren’t the same person!!

That is exactly what I am capable of doing – going all day without eating. Ended up doing it a lot in Dubai for one reason or another.

Sands is the exact opposite – needs to eat small amounts all the time which is great as she sort of forces me into doing it. I never used to eat breakfast, but now enjoy it so long as I have been up and about for a couple of hours, which is benefit of working at home I guess 🙂

Still not 100% but hopefully will get out and run later today!!!

Another day without any exercise at all 🙁 I probably could have managed a run but prudence (and laziness) convinced me to give it another day or two to make sure that I was fully recovered!

A pretty good day on the diet though:

    Breakfast – Porridge
Drink – Coffee and crunch bar
    Snack – banana, apple, satsuma
Lunch – pasta with lentils and aubergine
Snack – smoothie (strawberry, kiwi, banana) and brazil nuts
    Dinner – bread, brie, tomato
Snack – yoghurt with raisins, seeds, hazelnuts

Lots of water, but should probably cut down on the bread (carbs) and cut out the crunch bar!

    Last 2 days diet:
    Breakfast: Nothing
    Snack: Nothing
    Lunch: Nothing
    Snack: Nothing
    Dinner: Salad, jacket potato, fish.
    Snack: 9 maltesers!!

Off for run at 9ish again, felt very good for last nights although yawned alot around midday today!

Horrible hill to finish the run but ‘Radio Nowhere’ kicked in on the iPod and got me through it!

There is no way I could get through a day on that little food and still run!!! You are inspiring me to run though – so will go tomorrow whatever I feel like!!!

Reckon I will update this post tomorrow, and then weigh myself on the 6th and see if I am making any progress 🙂

Well the good news is that I went for a 5k run. Was tough in terms of breathing and energy, but great to be out again. Nice warm sun and a run along the beach 🙂

I even manged to do some stomach and stretching.

Not so bad news is that diet was pretty much the same, except that rather than bri and bread had some home made carrot soup, and rissoto instead of pasta, so again too much bread and a crunch bar!

The really bad news is that I ate a pork pie that a neighbour brought back from Gibralter.

Am not looking forward to weighing myself in the morning 🙁

In contrast I am about to go out in the dark, cold wet night!!!

As last 2 days – nothing till dinner, then pasta. 2 maltesers with cuppa!!

    iPod on, here we go…..

Back! 5 miles, sooooo windy and spitting with rain. Not sure if I want to hit the scales any time soon due to that no weight loss/weight goes up issue with muscle being forced out of retirement etc etc.

Well, maybe just a sneaky peek 🙂
